Ms. Jen: Her dance experience began in 1988 in a small dance school in Maryland.

Training in ballet, tap, jazz and pointe, I also spent about 3 years studying the Cecchetti Method of Ballet, a very structured, multiple level form of instruction based on fixed regimens that were later tested for advancement to the next level.

jen2In 1990 I moved to an ‘all ballet’ school, formally Ballet Theatre of Annapolis, where I then began training under the Russian, Vaganova Method. Here I not only trained in their school, but also became a Junior Company member at the age of 13, having the opportunity to train with the company as well as perform in all the company performances throughout the season.

Through my years in high school, I continued my dance education with Ballet Theatre of Annapolis as well as spent summers training with Washington Ballet and North Carolina School for The Arts. Once I graduated, I attended Towson University where I later received a B.S. degree in Exercise Science and Personal Fitness. Will attending college, I was promoted to a Senior Company member with Ballet Theatre of Annapolis and was further advanced to a Soloist position with the company in 1998.

JENI performed in many classical ballets, to include The Nutcraker, Swan Lake, and Gisselle, to name a few as well as numerous original pieces by the late Edward Stewart. I also worked with many guest choreographers that choreographed various modern and contemporary pieces. I was given the opportunity to perform with The Baltimore Opera in their performance of Aida, as well as perform with The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in their rendition of Miraculous Mandolin.

In 2002 I retired from the performing world and continued to teach with various studios in the Maryland area. I also owned a massage therapy business, for 6 years, while pursuing my dance career. We moved here to NC in 2007 where I spend most of my time raising our 3 beautiful boys and daughter!

I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to get back to my ballet roots here at Dance Art Studio and can’t wait to embrace your children and their talents!
